Athenean by James Heeley it is a composition inspired by the Mediterranean fig tree and in the luminous atmosphere of ancient Greece. Its character is born of contrast between green leaves and output galbano, aquatic freshness of fig and melon in the heart and creamy warmth of sandalwood, musk and amber.
Launched in 2021, Athenean is a re-inspiration of an earlier fragrance from the house, Figuier. In this new interpretation, the protagonism moves towards the wood of the fig tree, exploring its green, fragrant and slightly aquatic facet next to a warm and milky base.
The mythological inspiration of the fragrance adds a narrative dimension to the composition. According to the ancient Greek mythology, the first fig tree was born when Sykeus, persecuted by Zeus's wrath, was transformed into a tree by his mother Gaia, goddess of the earth. Athenean takes this reference as a starting point to build a fragrance that evokes nature, light and vegetable matter.
Athenean begins with green leaves and gálbano, a combination that establishes a plant, fresh and natural sensation from the first instant. The outlet evokes the greenest part of the fig tree, as if the tree was perceived in full nature, before its fruit appears.
The Galbano reinforces this impression with its green and resinous character, providing depth to an opening that remains fresh and luminous. It is a sober and elegant start, very in line with the minimalist aesthetic of James Heeley.
In the heart the protagonist of Athenean appears: the fig. Its green and aquatic facet is combined with melon and white tea, creating a light, clean and refreshing feeling.
